Night had been driving for an hour after work. She wanted to be anywhere but at the club. She wasn't tired enough to sleep but she couldn't stand to be there not right now; not while he was there with those horrible people surrounding him. Night slowed down as she headed passed the park, driving along the river that was dark with a few sparkles from the bright lights reflecting off the smoggy, polluted water. She stopped as the light in front of her and the line of cars turned red. The tormented driver looked ahead at the packed traffic, another accident? or a fight that started on a roof and ended on the pavement? Night wondered as she put the dark purple lambo in park to save the gas and battery. She groaned and sighed as the sirens just now started to sound like they were getting closer. Meanwhile she was stuck and could only lean back and stare at the dark sky. Night couldn't tell whenever she looked up at the sky downtown if what she saw was the vast sky filled with stars or smoke and filth from factories and the twinkling "stars" were just the building's lights reflecting of the smog. "Someone should think about electing a mayor that will actually pull through with an environment plan..." She sighed listening as the sirens finally got to the cross-section where whatever chaos had landed. Night heard some small chatter from a higher distance and looked around the edges of the skyscrapers as she leaned forward crossing her arms on the steering wheel. "Erasers... of course..." She said as she sat back and looked at the various buttons and controls of her car and pressed the one that shut the top so anyone looking from above couldn't see her. "Last thing I need is an eraser chasing me tonight..." She muttered to herself and sighed for the umph-teenth time as traffic remained frozen while EMT's took care of whose ever remains were in the cross section. Attachments:

Merrick walked along the streets of downtown New York City. At night, it was said that it was a dangerous area, but Merrick felt that he could protect himself if need be. Worst case scenario, he fly off and hang around in a different neighborhood. New York was his favorite place to live so far because of the idea of near-complete anonymity. The sheer amount of people made it survivable. The only other place he'd ever lived was a dog crate, so he didn't have much to compare it to, anyway.
Something else he noticed about downtown NYC was the amount of people who were actually hurt. Tonight, a couple of people were maimed, and just in front of him, someone had fallen onto the street from several stories above, hitting the street with a gross combination of a crunch and the sound of a rotten orange being squeezed angrily. He looked up with the other people on the sidewalk, and saw a hooded man stare down for a moment and walk back into the building. Someone made a call on their cell phone and within minutes sirens were heard. He'd tried to leave, but someone stopped him just in case the cops wanted witness statements from him.
After the police arrived and asked several witnesses questions, Merrick was finally allowed to leave. On his way down the street, he saw a young woman on the hood of a very attractive Lamborghini. One with a familiar face.
Struggling to recall her name, he called to her. "Night?"

Night was sitting on the hood of her car, after having confirmed there weren't any erasers around and it was probably just some suicide jumper case. So she got out of her car so she would waste the battery or gas and just gazed up at the smog filled sky before she heard her name called. She looked over to the sidewalk which seemed like it was moving faster than the frozen traffic of the street and noticed a boy walking toward her. "Hmm? Oh, you! You're the boy who helped me in the skate park..." She said straightening up from her relaxed laid back position on her car. "Merrick, right?"She asked cocking her head to the side.

Merrick nodded, weaving through the cars which were still stopped as the police and medics cleaned up the body. He stood to the side of the hood, facing Night with his jacket zipped up and hands in his pockets. She looked more or less okay after what happened in the alley by the skate park. "You look a lot better," he said.
He looked at her car. It was very nice. It was actually very expensive-looking as well. He wondered if she had a job. She must have, for this beast of a car. A good one, too, since Merrick barely had enough to pay for his apartment and massive amounts of food he required. "Why are you driving?" he asked, implying that she could be flying.

"A car... hehe." She chuckled nervously at her bad joke. "Its a purple Lamborghini..." She said sliding off the hood and walking to the side of her car next to Merrick. "Need a ride? It goes really fast... but not right now..." She said looking around at the stopped cars. "And I'm much better... a couple broken ribs but they've already healed." She said smiling gently.

Merrick smirked. "I bet. Last I checked, these things could get to... like, two hundred, two-oh-five?" Merrick was kind of jealous, as he could only get to that speed when he was going straight down, like the bird whose DNA he has in his system, the peregrine falcon. He'd have to research things like air resistance and physics to get any faster.
Merrick knew that their kind could heal quickly naturally, more than likely due to their fast metabolic systems. Merrick for one never had to worry about being put out of action more than a day. He'd never had any serious injuries, either.
"So, what is it that you do when you're not running from Erasers?" he said with a grin.

"That dear boy is my secret... but I do work in a nigh club for fun." She said grinning as she opened the drivers side door and slid in. "If you want to get feel free to." Night didn't want to talk about the money pot she had hidden in her past that paid for the car but the night club which was a job for fun she didn't mind. But she wasn't going to talk about the past.

Merrick shrugged and got in. It was a comfortable place to be in. Speed plus comfort equaled expensive, as Merrick knew. "Sounds like a drag, to be honest. I make most of my money by doing things like finding working pieces in abandoned cars or cars in the junk yard, then sell them to repair shops." Merrick knew it didn't sound too terribly interesting, and it wasn't, but it made him a lot of money when he did several runs a day. Not enough to really increase his standard of living, but enough to feed him and put a roof over his head.

"So you work in chop shops?" Night asked slightly interested. "But..." She snickered. "You had to ask what kind of car this is?" She smiled as she laughed softly while they sat in her comfortable car in frozen traffic.

"I wouldn't describe them as chop shops, since there are bad connotations that come with the name. More like a... car part recycling center." Actually, Merrick knew that other people that worked for the shop happened to do just that: steal cars and take it apart. "And I asked why you were driving, not what. We obviously have a better form of transportation."

"Better form? You mean life style duck hunt? I'd rather not." She smirked as she lied. Night loved flying but didn't like being shot down.

Merrick chuckled. "I see your point, but if you fly high enough the only way you'll get hurt is if someone's in a plane trying to kill you, which I don't see happening any time soon." He also thought about if another bird kid tried to hurt you, but that just seemed impossible. They were all victims, weren't they? Trying to survive did not mean killing others like you to increase your chances of survival.

"You'd be surprised..." She sighed leaning on her steering wheel. "Hell in some places there are birds desperate for survival... so desperate they'll act like the erasers sometimes... do what their told and hunt rogue birds." Night said looking at the EMT's packing up and start letting the cars move little bits at a time.
